FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

BEFORE YOUR SESSION

Where are you based?

I am based in a small rural village on the outskirts of Cowbridge in South Wales (UK). I cover all areas of South Wales and the South West of England on a regular basis and am frequently asked to photograph further afield. I am happy to travel throughout the UK and abroad upon request and subject to availability. Minimal costs will be charged for sessions further afield than a 30 mile round trip from CF71.

My older children are at school in the week. Do you do weekend appointments?

Absolutely. As a specialist child photographer I need to be flexible to suit your family timetable. Weekend appointments are limited and tend to be very popular, booking up around 6 weeks in advance. It’s always a good idea to book early to avoid disappointment.

What are your opening hours?

I currently work from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm (sessions available from start times of 10am to 1pm). I am also available for weekend sessions but these are limited to two sessions per week.

What do I need to prepare for the session?

Upon booking we will have a chat to talk about exactly what you would like to get from your session. You will also receive a welcome pack, which is jam packed with lots of hints and tips including details about what to wear for your session.

Where will my photo shoot take place?

I favour working on location for many reasons. Firstly, we have so many stunning settings in the UK that it seems a shame to be stuck in a sterile studio. Secondly, I find it a much more natural and fun experience for my families. The children tend to be much more relaxed as they are encourage to explore and play while I roll around in the grass! Newborn sessions take place in the comfort of my Cowbridge studio.

What’s the best time of day to have a photo session?

When working with little ones it’s always best to consider their best time of day. This is often in the morning but I am happy to work around your schedule. During the summer months, I find that the best time of day is either very early morning or very late evening in order to capture beautiful golden summer light. If you are able to timetable naps to accommodate this then I would strongly recommend it. I strongly recommend that newborn sessions take place within the first 3 weeks following birth.

What is included in the session fee?

The session fee covers the photo shoot itself, pre-consultation and your selection session. The session fee does not include any additional presentation products, prints or digital files. These may be purchased separately after the shoot. If you would like more information about pricing please click here or contact me for more information.

Do you photograph newborns?

Yes. I have been photographing newborn babies for over 9 years. You can find out more about newborn sessions by clicking here. If you would like more information about booking a newborn photography session then please give me a call on 07852 255766 or drop me a line by clicking here.

How do I book?

Please contact me to discuss your requirements and check availability in the first instance. Simply send me a message with your contact details or feel free to give me a call on 07852 255766 for an informal chat.

DURING YOUR SESSION

What happens if the weather is bad?

It’s a common misconception that it has to be sunny to get great photos. Good job this is a myth as I’d never take any pictures at all! I shoot in all weathers. The only reason I would re-schedule is if it was raining or snowing heavily or if the weather conditions were not suitable for the comfort of your child. I keep my diary flexible enough to be able to re-schedule if we need to.

How long will the session last? Your session will last around one hour but there is no specific time limit. If your little one needs a little more time to settle then that is no problem at all.

AFTER YOUR SESSION

How many photographs will we see after the photo session?

You will be shown between 20 and 30 beautifully hand crafted and fully edited images within two to three weeks following your session. These will be shown in a variety of both colour and black & white.

How will we see the images?

Following your shoot you will receive a link and password to your private online gallery which will enable you to view and select your images.

Will we be under pressure to buy?

Not at all. I find that the images sell themselves and I never ever pressure sell. I want you to be 100% happy with your purchase and experience with me. I’d like you to come back again in the future and recommend me to your friends. It is however really important to consider your budget before scheduling a session. It would be a shame to be presented with beautiful images but not have the budget to purchase the products you have set your heart on. As a guide, my customers tend to invest between £400 and £1000 on collections and presentation products after their session.

Do you sell just prints?

I have designed 3 different collections for you to choose from following your session. These collections have been designed to encompass the most popular products I have sold over the last 10 years in business. Should you wish to purchase additional smaller prints for gifts etc. or other products from my menu then these are only available following the purchase of your chosen collection. Gift print prices start at £35 per print.

If you still have unanswered questions then please feel free to contact me or give me a call for a chat on 07852 255766.
