FAQ

Where do sessions take place?

I work mainly in the South Wales area but have also shot throughout the UK, Europe and the US. Sessions typically take place within 35 miles of my base in Cowbridge (CF71) although I am happy to travel further afield (subject to a small charge to cover basic travel and/or accommodation charges).

All sessions take place outdoors and we’re so lucky to have an abundance of beautiful locations to choose from. The perfect time for these sessions is around 60-90 minutes after sunrise or before sunset during “golden hour” when the light is the most magical. Throughout the years I have established some very favourite locations and I am more than happy to suggest a great backdrop for your shoot. You may however have a favourite pace you and your family like to visit and that’s fine too.

What happens during a session?

The first thing I will do is become best friends with your kids! It is SO important that I build a connection with them.

I like to ease my customers into their session so you all feel comfortable and any awkwardness disappears. There is a lot of playing and exploring throughout but don’t worry I’ll give you some gentle direction and guidance to enable me to get the best images possible. I don’t really pose all that much, mostly I’m just creating a space with beautiful light for you to be yourselves, allowing opportunities for fun, snuggles and connections to happen naturally.

What happens if it rains?

Ah, the great unpredictable British weather! It can be a big pain but I’m used to working around it.

I am obsessive about the weather (what Brit isn’t?) and the key is flexibility. When scheduling any on location session I always agree a ‘rain date’ just in case. Rain and excessive cold are the main reasons I’d look at rescheduling a session. I want the experience to be a good one and if all you think about when you look at your photos is how cold and wet you were then that’s not good!

It is however a common misconception that it needs to be sunny to have a successful session. This is not the case and often can be quite the opposite. An overcast day can result in beautiful saturated colours and is often easier if your child is very mobile and struggles to keep still (that’s about 90% of kids!). Shooting in bright sunlight in the middle of the day also can result in plenty of squinting and harsh shadows. The moral of the story? Don’t be put off by a bit of cloud!

What should we wear?

This is probably the most common question I am asked!

Please don’t worry! Once you have booked your session, I will send you some my What to Wear Guide along with lots of other helpful hints & advice to ensure your session runs smoothly. The most important thing is that you love your outfits and that you are as comfortable as possible during our session.

If you have any other questions or would just like to chat before booking, just drop me a message or give me a call.

Really looking forward to chatting with you soon.
