distanced family photo shoots
family photography in the time of covid-19
It’s been a bit tough recently hasn’t it? However hard it’s been in lockdown, I’m a firm believer that good should always come out of our struggles. There is good in everything, no matter what.
I’ve been coiled up like a wound spring, waiting for the time I can get out with my camera and do what I love. Knowing that the images I capture will be laced with even more emotion has kept me going. Feelings of newfound unity, freedom and love. Images that will serve as a treasured keepsake to mark everything you’ve have achieved during these tough times. We all deserve that right now don’t we?
I’m very excited to be announce that I am able to re-start on location family photo shoots in mid-July (dependant on government guidelines). It’s going to look a tiny bit different, but not much. I’ve spent a great deal of time making sure I get the processes just right to ensure the safety of all of us whilst still being able to offer a great photo session experience.
how does a socially distanced family photo shoot work?
Keeping both your family and my family safe whilst working during this pandemic is my upmost priority. To ensure all sessions run smoothly during this time I have put in place some guidelines so you know what to expect during your shoot.
I am lucky that my natural style of family photography is perfectly suited to a socially distanced family photo shoot. My Wild & Wonder sessions take place in the beautiful wide open spaces of our stunning countryside so it’s easy to stay 2m apart at all times. The camera equipment that I use allows me to keep my distance from my models whilst at the same time still being able to capture my signature style of photography for you to treasure forever.
In reality, not a great deal has changed in regards to the way I work. Yes, I won’t be able to tickle and play with the children as I once would but there will be no shortage of games, fun and giggles to ensure everyone feels relaxed and enjoys their session.
I will ensure that the perfect locations and shoot timings are selected to ensure social distancing can be adhered to as well as scrupulous cleanliness, cleaning of props if used and wearing of a mask should you request it. I am also going to be limiting my availability to one shoot per evening.
You can find all of the finer details below but should you have any other questions or concerns then please don’t heist to get in touch for a chat.
- Limited availability – one shoot per evening maximum in the summer.
- Social distancing adhered to at all times as well as careful selection of locations to ensure this is possible.
- Hand sanitiser to be used prior to the shoot and during the session should it be needed.
- I will wear a mask should you wish me to.
- Relaxed re-scheduling policy should you, a member of your family (or myself) show symptoms.

CAN YOU MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING?
Absolutely. By shooting in wide open spaces and using my preferred specialist lenses it is totally possible to complete a photo shoot whilst staying 2m apart at all times.
WILL YOU WEAR A MASK?
I prefer not to wear a mask during these sessions as I feel it hinders communication and can be a little off-putting for little ones however I am more than happy to wear a mask if you would prefer me to do so.
WHERE AND WHEN WILL OUR SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Locations for photo shoots will also be carefully considered to ensure social distancing with others can be adhered to (such as avoiding busy beaches or parks for example). During the summer months I tend to only shoot from 6pm onwards (the later the better) to get the best light and aligns perfectly for when many locations tend to be a bit quieter.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN TAKE PART IN A SHOOT?
Currently I am limiting the photo sessions to groups of less than 6 people from the same household.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A MEMBER OF MY HOUSEHOLD IS SHOWING SYMPTOMS?
You must not attend your session if you or any member of your household are showing any symptoms of Covid-19 or are self-isolating at the time of your session.
I understand that this is an unusual time and should you need to cancel your session for any reason, that is totally OK. Although I am unable to offer refunds of your session fee, I am more than happy to re-schedule your session to a more convenient time in the future at no extra charge.
All clients will be asked to confirm in writing that they are well and display no symptoms the day before the session.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU OR YOUR FAMILY DEVEOP SYMPTOMS?
Should I or any of my household show symptoms and need to self-isolate, I will let you know as soon as possible and make plans to re-schedule your family photo shoot for the next mutually agreeable date at no extra charge.
HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?
Just click below to request a copy of my brochure which contains all of the information you’ll need.
If you are excited to book, we’ll agree on a date. I’ll then send you over an invoice for your session fee. Once your session payment is received, your date ill be reserved and I’ll send you over my pre-session questionnaire. The questionnaire is designed to give me much more information about you and your family. I want to know what makes your family unique, so this is a time when we get a bit deep. The more that you open up to me and tell me your story, the more powerful your session will be.
I’ll also send you some my What to Wear Guide and lots of hints & tips to help you plan and get excited for your session.
HOW DO I VIEW MY IMAGES FOLLOWING OUR SESSION?
Around 2 weeks following your session you will be sent a link to an online gallery which allows you to view and purchase images from your session in the comfort of your own home.
Typically, I invite customers into the studio to view framing and other display samples should they want to purchase more than simply digital files. During these times, custom wall display appointments will take place via Zoom or Skype.
All digital files will be delivered via download. Wall display options will be available for contactless pick up or home delivery.
Guidelines are changing all the time and I will make changes to these guidelines as the situation develops. Please feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions, it’s be lovely to hear from you.
