Annie is a photographer. A very good one and a very nice all round person too. She attended one of my workshops about 18 months ago and at the end pulled me aside. “I’d like to book you to photograph my family please”. It’s always slightly terrifying photographing another photographer but always an honour.
For this shoot I travelled down to the rolling hills of Devon. It’s a place I know quite well as I studied for my degree in Exeter many moons ago and it was a firm staple location for family holidays as a kid. I’m always happy to travel especially when I get to shoot in beautiful locations such as Dartmoor.
It’s funny when you photograph someone who is used to be on the other side of the camera. They know the little things and Annie nailed the styling for this shoot. The clothing was just perfect.
This was an active shoot. I ran, tripped (this is very usual!) and rolled around in what was, in parts a bog. Every few steps my foot would plunge into a soggy divot filling my shoes with water. It became quite the joke of the session (happy to oblige!). However, I have to say that driving home to Wales with sogging wet Converse is not an experience I ever want to repeat!!
It was a hot day and as the sun went down over the forest it cast that golden glow that I love so much. I love this session so much and I can’t believe I haven’t shared these images sooner. Thrilled and honoured to be able to capture the glorious personality and spirit of this wonderful family.
If you are interested in finding more about my on location family photography UK sessions then please just get in touch and I’ll send you a copt of my 2018 brochure.
Until next time,
